Memories of Edwin ( Ed ) Banasiak, Jr.
Ed passed away December 3, 1990 from a prolapsed heart valve. He was due to have open heart surgery the next day. It was meant to be. He had graduated from NCSU. He was married to the wonderful Mayme Kay Hampton Banasiak and had 2 great sons, Edwin John Banasiak, III who is a Presbyterian Minister in Clemmons, NC and his other son, Mark Hampton Banasiak is a teacher, a Volunteer Fireman and a City Councilman in TN. I know my brother would have been proud to tell you all about his sons' and his accomplishments. When he died, he was owner of EJ Liquors in Chattanooga, TN. He was also President/Owner of Marwin International in Chattanooga, TN. He had been past President of the World Trade Council of TN. The list goes on. He was pretty impressive. But, most of all, he was my brother, the greatest brother there ever was! When I went to his funeral in Chattanooga, a teacher who he had at NCSU came through the funeral line at the wake. He said to my parents, "You know most people measure success by the amount of wealth or things that a person has. But, success is measured by the number of lives a person has touched."......there were hundreds of people there.....he further said, "I believe Ed was one of the most successful people I have ever had the honor of knowing." In closing, I loved my brother and I miss him. I hope some of you remember him and I know he would have come home for any reunions as he had already been back for a few before he died. Here's wishing all the Class of '65 happy memories and remember the ones who have gone on ahead....
